Michael T. Kopech graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2014 and joined the Boston Red Sox organization fulfilling a lifetime dream to play professional baseball. He returned to MPHS Thursday to give back to the community that helped prepare him for his professional baseball career.<\/p>\n

Kopech donated New Balance shirts to the MPHS Tiger Athletic Booster Club. The Booster Club turned around and donated the shirts to the MPHS Baseball program in honor of Michael.<\/p>\n

Kopech was on hand to distribute the shirts, one solid black and one black and grey, to members of the MPHS Baseball team, some of whom were teammates of his when he played for the MPHS Tigers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really appreciate Michael and his willingness to give back to the community by donating these shirts to the Booster Club,\u201d said Tiger Athletic Booster Club Treasurer Dr. Kenny Thompson. \u201cWe are pleased to pass the shirts along to the MPHS Baseball program. Hopefully when our players wear these shirts they will remember Michael and his hard work both on and off the field. He is proof that with hard work dreams really do come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

MPISD Athletic Director Corey Homer added: \u201cIt is always a pleasure to see Tigers come back home and give back to their community. The Tiger Baseball program appreciates Michael’s time and effort.\u00a0 Michael had an amazing high school career and is thriving now as a professional. We are excited and very thankful for his support!\u201d<\/p>\n

Kopech played in South Carolina with the Boston Red Sox organization last season and expects to play in Salem, Virginia this upcoming season.<\/p>\n
