Samantha Ottmer, an MPHS graduate and owner of Sam\u2019s Sweet\u2019s, assisted by her mom, Dawn Trickey, a retired MPISD Counselor, taught the students about decorating cookies. Sam\u2019s Sweets specializes in custom cookies for all occasions.<\/h3>\n<h3>Ottmer taught the students to make royal icing from scratch and the consistency needed for the outside border. The students then learned to take a portion of that icing, add water, and how to measure the consistency needed for flooding the center of the cookie. Finally, the students mixed in colors and practiced applying a border and then flooding the cookie with the icing they had made.<\/h3>\n<h3>MPHS offers a four-year program in Culinary Arts, culminating in a Practicum class that operates a restaurant, The Tiger Den.
