{"id":10771,"date":"2025-01-25T18:55:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-26T00:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/?p=10771"},"modified":"2025-01-25T18:58:06","modified_gmt":"2025-01-26T00:58:06","slug":"mphs-cheerleaders-finish-uil-spirit-state-championships-as-top-20-in-5a-dii-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/mphs-cheerleaders-finish-uil-spirit-state-championships-as-top-20-in-5a-dii-2\/","title":{"rendered":"MPHS Cheer Finishes UIL Spirit State Championships as Top 20 Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Mount Pleasant High School Cheerleaders competed in the UIL Spirit State Championships on January 17-18 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.\u00a0 MPHS competed in the 5A division II category in band chant, fight song, and crowd leading.<\/h3>\n<h3>Day one saw 74 teams in 5A division II vying for a top 20 placement and advancement to finals on day two.\u00a0 At the end of prelims, MPHS qualified for finals in the 15<sup>th<\/sup> position and would compete again the next day.\u00a0 After the final round on Saturday, MPHS Cheer finished the UIL Spirit State Championships as the 16<sup>th<\/sup> ranked 5A division II cheer squad in the state of Texas.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;This year, we competed against 74 teams in 5A division 2,\u201d said MPHS Cheer coach, Karissa Lopez. \u201cTo be recognized as a Top 20 team in Texas and in a very competitive division, makes me so proud.\u00a0 We have a very young team, consisting of 18 underclassmen, 6 juniors and 4 seniors.
