The Mount Pleasant High School chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) attended the 40th annual Teach Tomorrow Summit at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, on February 27-March 1. Five members attended the state competition after qualifying at area in December. Over 300 schools were represented by more than 2400 competitors at the 3-day event.<\/h3>\n

The team of juniors, Gabriella Garza and April Ruiz, advanced to Nationals in Teacher Created Materials with their project “A Needle in a Haystack”. Their project is designed to help teachers extend learning through hands on activities and matching. The concept was presented to a group of judges with Garza and Ruiz demonstrating how it would work in the classroom.<\/h3>\n

Also competing at state for MPHS TAFE were the team of seniors, Araceli Landaverde and Sidney Beles, with their original children\u2019s book, Dear Mom and Dad, about the sacrifices parents make for their kids and the realization of those sacrifices from a child\u2019s point of view. And junior, Jasmine Landaverde, competed in Job Interview, where she submitted a cover letter, a resume, and participated in an on-site live interview.<\/h3>\n

\u201cI am so incredibly proud of all these students and thrilled to be headed to our nation’s capitol for another National competition!\u201d said MPHS TAFE Advisor, Aimee Sweeden.<\/h3>\n

The 2024 Educators Rising National Conference is scheduled to take place June 28-July 1 at the Marriott Marquis in Washington D.C.<\/h3>\n
