Welcome
to the Literacy/Dyslexia page, we are in our fifth and final year of
the Texas Reading First Grant. There are four
Reading First K - 4th campuses: Annie Sims Elem., E.C.
Brice, Frances Corprew Elem., and Vivian Fowler Elem. Each of
these campuses has a full time reading coach. Each
campus has a 90 minute reading block of uninterrupted
instruction.
The reading benchmark chosen for the four Reading First campuses is
the TPRI & Tejas LEE. This benchmark is given three
times a year, in September, January, and in April. The data
is analyzed by the classroom teacher and her reading coach.
Children who show as not developed on each benchmark are
provided intense systematic intervention for approximately ten
weeks. Every two weeks these students are progress
monitored to ensure that they are making gains.
The core reading program for the K - 3rd classrooms is the
Scott Foresman Reading/Lectura Series. Fourth
grade uses the MaGraw-Hill for their core reading
program. Please
