D.A.R.E.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse
Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids
the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and
violence. D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles and has
proven so successful that it is now being implemented in 75 percent
of our nation's school districts and in more than 43 countries
around the world. D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of
classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through
12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and
violence-free lives.
The
D.A.R.E program for MPISD is coordinated and taught by Chief Hayes
Lesher along with Sr. Officer Ricky Chamness and Sergeant
Ronnie Humphrey. The D.A.R.E Officers teach to the 5th
grade boys and girls of P. E. Wallace Middle School. All
three officers love teaching D.A.R.E and are dedicated to each and
every child they have taught for the past several years at MPISD.
They cannot express enough on how important it is for
parents, teachers and mentors to help in teaching kids how to stay
DRUG FREE! It is their goal to see that no child is left
behind and that each child knows their D.A.R.E Officer is always
there for them at all times.
"SAY NO TO DRUGS
AND YES TO SCHOOL!!!"
