D.A.E.P. is a campus for students that are entitled to an educational program that meets their unique needs. Provides a combination of intense individualized, academic instruction and behavior change, oriented in an alternative setting to assist students to return successfully to the regular classrooms. When students require a setting or instruction different from their classmates in order to learn, they may be placed in an alternative program where their needs can be better addressed by certified teachers. Along with a change in their educational setting, which is separate from the general student population. Their needs must be addressed within comprehensive planning for the total school population.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Mt. Pleasant D.A.E.P. will meet the needs of the at-risk student by providing a short term alternative educational setting to modify student behavior. Students will improve social, interpersonal skills and experience academic success. These improvements will allow for a successful integration back to their sending campus. PHILOSOPHY: The Mt. Pleasant D.A.E.P. provides an educational alternative for those who have been removed from their regular campuses for a number of different reasons. The school provides counseling and individualized instruction. The school is a LAST chance for many students who, through felonious behavior, persistent behavior problems, may lose their opportunity to obtain a public education. |
