Wallace Earns Four Gold Performance Awards
P.E. Wallace Middle School received four Gold Performance Awards for 2008-2009. The campus received awards for Commended Performance in Science and Comparable Improvement in Reading/ELA and Mathematics. In addition, Wallace was recognized for attendance.
“For a school to receive a commended performance in Science, at least 30 percent of students on the campus in each of five different groups had to score at the commended level on the those two TAKS tests, an increase from 25 percent last year,” explained Regina Conroy, MPISD Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “Comparable improvement is based on the growth in student performance from one year to the next and compares the change to that of 40 schools with similar demographics. The campuses in the top twenty-five percent receive the Gold Performance Acknowledgement.”
To receive a Gold Performance Award in Attendance, Wallace had to reach at least 96% attendance for the year.
