Fowler Elementary Earns Four Gold Performance Awards
Vivian Fowler Elementary School received four Gold Performance Awards for 2008-2009. The campus received Comparable Performance in Math, Commended Performance in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and Writing and for Attendance.
“For a school to receive a commended performance in Reading/English Language Arts (ELA) and Writing, at least 30 percent of students on the campus in each of five different groups had to score at the commended level on the those two TAKS tests, an increase from 25 percent last year,” explained Regina Conroy, MPISD Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “Comparable improvement is based on the growth in student performance from one year to the next and compares the change to that of 40 schools with similar demographics. The campuses in the top twenty-five percent receive the Gold Performance Acknowledgement.”
To receive a Gold Performance Award in Attendance, Fowler had to reach at least 97% attendance for the year.
