MPISD Board of Trustees Meeting Dec

    Above and Beyond Awards: An award was presented Rodney Huffman and the staff of P.E. Wallace Middle School for their Veteran’s Day Program.
    Student Recognitions: Wallace Principal Rodney Huffman introduced 5th grader Reagan Ball, the campus’ winner of the Luminant Scholar Program, and Teshayla Fleming, a 6th grader who read her award-winning essay on What America Means To Me.
    Annie Sims Elementary School Presentation: Pam McCollum, Principal of Annie Sims, introduced Paul Decious, who, with the help of four students, demonstrated how he uses technology in the classroom.

Board Business:
•Approved overnight trips for MPHS Choir to All-State Choir Auditions, TAMU-Commerce (Jan. 8-9, 2010); MPHS FFA to Tractor Tech Contest, Sealy (Jan. 8-9, 2010) and Area Tractor Tech Contest, Huntsville (Jan. 28-29); MPHS Skills USA to District Contest, Waco (Feb. 4-6); MPHS FFA to Stock Show & Various Exhibits, San Antonio (Various Dates Feb. 4-21); MPHS FFA to Stock Show & Exhibit Projects, San Antonio (Feb. 18-21).
•Delayed decision on District Mission & Vision Statements until January, 2010 meeting.
•Approved the Proposal for the Renovation of the Old Educational Support Services bldg.
•Approved Resolution to cast votes 578 votes each for Randy Beckett, Gerald Hampton, Charles Wright and Bobby Parr; and, 580 votes for Ezeal McGill as Board of Directors of the Titus County Appraisal District.
•Approved Resolution to complete sale of land (4.0 acres, East Vickers Survey, Abstract No. 587, Titus County) to Leonard Peel.
•Accepted the bid from R.A. Teal Construction (Naples, TX) for concrete work at the Child Development Center for a cost of $76,377.

•Board Training Hours:
All Board members have completed the required number and type of training hours.
•2009 Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs): MPISD has met the required standards for LEP students.
•Highly Qualified Report: All MPISD teachers have again met the standard of Highly Qualified.
