December Board of Trustees Meeting

December 15, 2008

Above and Beyond Awards were presented to Elida Lopez and Cindy Hatfield (Corprew), Kristin French (Brice), Jim Alston (MPHS), Sheila Jones and Brinda Peek (21st CCLC-MPJHS); and Sarah Reynolds (21st CCLC-Sims).
Frances Corprew Elementary School: Principal LaWanda Cowan presented a PowerPoint with images from Corprew with the theme "What a Wonderful School".

Corprew 1st grader Antiana Clayton entertained the board and audience with a medley of Christmas songs, sung a cappella.

Lady Mujaji Club Donation
McCowan (l) accepts donation from Prince(r).

Presentation to Corprew: LaWyanda Prince from the Lady Mujaji Club announced that the Club had adopted Corprew Elementary School for 2008-2009 and made a monetary donation to the school.
Recognition of Even Start: Superintendent Terry Myers announced that the MPISD Even Start program at the Community Learning Center has been recognized as a Commended Program by Texas LEARNS, the State Office for Adult Education and Family Literacy. Commended is the highest rating a program can receive.
Board Business
•Approved overnight trips for MPHS Theatre Department to the UIL One-Act Play Practice and Clinic, Stephen F. Austin University (Feb. 27-28, 2009); and, for District 3rd and 4th GT students to Sky Ranch in Van, Texas (May 6-8, 2009).
•Approved Region 8 TIPS Food Purchasing Coop Memorandum of Understanding and the Region 8-TIPS Commodity Processing Coop Memorandum of Understanding.
