District Site Based Committee
October 14, 2008
Minutes
1. Chairman Willie Williams called the meeting to order at 4:15
p.m.
2. Minutes approved.
3. Election of officers: Mr.Dodd made a motion, which was seconded,
that Mr. Willie Williams remain the community chairman. Dr. Saxton
is currently secretary and a motion was made and seconded for her
to remain in that position.
4. Superintendent’s Report:
• There is a large number of children involved in extra curricular
activities
• 140 students playing junior high football to last years 70
• Good things going on in the classrooms (through observations)
• Sees no reason why our district will not be a recognized district
this year
• Teachers starting to talk to each other and are more trusting
5. District improvement plan:
• Would like the campus site base to collect core values and
beliefs from their schools and bring to the next district site base
meeting through their district site base person (still working on
district mission statement)
6. Modified Schedule: Seniors modified schedule during TAKS
7. Campus Concerns: Vivian Fowler reported that awnings are leaking
and there is no awning for the handicap, would like more teacher
representation during the business addition (for next year)
