21st Century Knitting Project
by the Knitting Club- the MPJH "Knitwits"
MPJH has a group of students, sponsored by the 21st Century Program, that are learning the life-long skill of knitting. Ellen Eggleston, the project coordinator for the knitting club, is teaching the basics of knitting, as well as ways to use this skill to foster creativity and enhance math skills. Students also are learning to use their new found skill to help others through community service and school projects. Students were excited to share their first collaborative effort called "Dress the Bear" project. The students made scarves to dress these bears for Christmas for one of the lucky teachers at MPJH.
