Duke University Talent Search winners Brown, Yox and Larsen

MPJHS Students Recognized by Duke University Talent Search

Three Mount Pleasant Junior High School students have been recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program. Thomas Tucker Brown qualified Grand Recognition while Elizabeth Larsen and Philip Yox qualified for State Recognition.
To be recognized at the state level, a seventh grade student must score above average (50%) for high school juniors and seniors on the SAT or the ACT tests. To qualify as a Grand winner, a seventh grade student must score 150 points higher that state recognition on the SAT or approximately 7 points high on the ACT. A student qualifying for State Recognition is in the top 30% of the Talent Search pool and a student qualifying for Grand Recognition is in the top 2%.
Brown, the son of Tommy and Carolyn Brown, qualified for Grand Recognition based on his ACT scores. Larson, the daughter of Tim and Jane Larson, qualified for State Recognition based on her ACT scores, while Yox, the son of Andrew and Christine Yox, qualified based on his SAT scores.
