MPHS FBLA Students Win at Disrtict, Qualify for State
by Judith Saxton
Nine Mount Pleasant High School
students, members of the Future Business Leaders of America, placed
high enough in district competition to qualify for state and will
compete against students from across the state of Texas at the
annual FBLA conference in Houston April 10-12.
Students will compete in Impromptu Speaking, Leadership, Business
Presentations, Data Base, Desk Top Publishing, Computer
Applications and Accounting.
"This is the largest group of students
Mount Pleasant High School has ever had who have qualified for
state competition," said Jackie Scoggins, MPHS Career and
Technology teacher and FBLA sponsor. "Each of the students going to
state has worked very hard on their particular events. For most of
them, this is something they do above and beyond their regular
coursework and other extracurricular activities. We are extremely
proud of them all."
In addition to Scoggins, the students are
sponsored by CATE teachers Donna Davis and Teresa Kirkham.
