Athletic Directors, Superintendents and Coaches all waited anxiously for the UIL to announce the new football and basketball district alignments for the 2016-2018 school years. The announcement was made at 9 a.m. Monday morning and Mount Pleasant ISD is once again in District 16-5A with Greenville, Hallsville, Marshall, Pine Tree, Sulphur Springs and Texas High.
“The 7 team district was surprising because the UIL tends to want to have 8 team districts,” said MPISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Corey Homer. “It is a relief to now know that our preseason games will be set and we know who we will be working with for the next 2 years. The Athletic Directors in our current district all work very well with one another. Longview has moved back into Conference 6A. Other than Longview, our district will stay the same with Greenville, Sulphur Springs, Mount Pleasant, Texas High, Marshall, Hallsville and Pine Tree.”
