On Saturday, September 10th the Mount Pleasant ISD Debate Team traveled to Princeton High School to compete in The Princeton TFA Individual Qualifying Tournament and brought home a 1st place, a 2nd place and a top speaker award.

The 7th Grade team of Connelly Cowan and Mackenzie Lide placed 1st in the Novice Cross Examination Debate division. They were the only Junior High team to compete and beat four Dallas area high school teams on their way to a first place finish!

The Varsity team of Nathon Segovia and Audrey Courreges placed 2nd in Varsity Cross Examination Debate. Nathon Segovia was awarded the Top Speaker award for the tournament.

“We congratulate these four students for their success at the tournament,” said Dr. Judith Saxton, MPISD’s Director of Communication. “The hard work they put in to get ready for this tournament really paid off. Thanks to their coach Cody Morris for his commitment to our debate program.”
