It’s not only high school athletes who are offered scholarships to play at the college level. After individual auditions before a panel of judges, fourteen Mount Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band members were offered scholarships to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello Music Program. The scholarship total: $396,500.

Scholarships were offered to Eryn Armstrong, Christopher Carillo, Ben Grissom, Pablo Gutierez, Ashley Heim, Emily Mott, Adlai Plancarte, Luis Ramirez, Yaritza Romero, Donte Rosborough, Nataly Ruan, Matthew Shelton, Michael Skaggs and Joseph Smith.

“I am so proud of these students and what they have accomplished here at MPHS and will accomplish during their last semester with us,” said MPHS Band Director Dr. Theodus Luckett. “They have all contributed to the success of the Goin’ Gold Band and we will miss them. I congratulate them on earning scholarships to the University of Arkansas-Monticello. I know they will all be successful in their college careers.”
