Region 8 Education Service Center has announced that Judd Marshall, Superintendent of the Mt. Pleasant Independent School District, will represent the region as the 2017 Superintendent of the Year.  Marshall is a graduate of Leonard High School in Leonard, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Henderson State University and his Master’s Degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He holds a Mid-Management Certification and a Superintendent’s Certification from the state of Texas.

Marshall has been at Mount Pleasant Independent School District for 19 years, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent.

He comes from a family of educators. His father, mother, and brother have all been superintendents. He and his wife Courtney have a son, Tanner and a daughter, Tenley.

Over the years, the Texas Association of School Boards Superintendent of the Year award program has honored outstanding Texas administrators for achievement and excellence in public school administration. Candidates are chosen for their strong leadership skills, dedication to improving the quality of education in their school districts, commitment to public support and involvement in education, and ability to build good employee relations among teachers and staff members.
